I am Tharshen Subramaniam, a final-year Electrical and Electronics Engineering student at UTP. I recently completed a fully sponsored 7-month internship with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team in the UK, an experience that deepened my technical expertise and fuelled my drive for excellence. My passion for innovation and problem-solving led me to engineering, where I thrive on understanding how things work and creating solutions that make an impact.
Q: Why you choose Electrical & Electronics Engineering?
I chose Electrical and Electronics Engineering because it offers the perfect blend of hardware and software, allowing me to explore both worlds. Even before university, I had a deep passion for technology and programming, which made EEE the ideal path for me to expand my knowledge and skills. This field is deeply rooted in STEM, as it combines engineering principles, technological advancements, and mathematical applications to drive innovation and solve real-world problems.
Q: Any dream occupation, job, or company?
I aspire to be a Data Scientist at PETRONAS Digital Sdn Bhd, where I can leverage data-driven insights to drive innovation and efficiency in the energy sector. With my background in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and passion for technology, I aim to contribute to cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions that create a meaningful impact in the industry.

Absolutely! My studies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering equip me with the knowledge to develop innovative solutions that benefit society. From optimising energy systems to advancing automation, EEE plays a crucial role in building a smarter and more efficient world. For instance, my final year project on cognitive frailty prediction aims to enable early detection, which could improve elderly healthcare and enhance quality of life. Through technology and data-driven solutions, I strive to create a positive and lasting impact.
